On July 12, 2024, the RYCA project collaborated with Le Gazze Bo for a remarkable swap event at Villa Celestina. Hosted by Libera Bologna, this event transformed the beautiful venue into an informative space focused on raising awareness about fast fashion.

We set up an information corner that provided detailed insights into the fast fashion phenomenon, including its environmental and social impacts. Attendees could participate in a quiz to test their knowledge about fast fashion and take a test to find out if their t-shirts were produced within these exploitative circuits. The results were eye-opening, revealing that most t-shirts likely originate from fast fashion sources.

Such swap events are crucial in the fight against fast fashion, as they promote the recycling and repurposing of clothing. By giving our clothes new life, we can reduce the demand for new garments and help mitigate the negative effects of overconsumption. This practice is an important element that will be featured in the upcoming eco guides being prepared for the RYCA project.

The event highlighted the importance of community efforts in fostering sustainable fashion practices and demonstrated how simple actions, like participating in a clothing swap, can make a significant difference.
