Berlin Energy and Climate Protection Programme 2030
On January 25, 2018, the Berlin House of Representatives adopted the Berlin Energy and Climate Protection Programme 2030 (BEK 2030). The initiative was led by the Senate Department for Urban Mobility, Transport, Climate Action, and Environment. This program is a key part of Berlin’s plan to become carbon-neutral by 2050.
BEK 2030 outlines strategies and measures for all relevant sectors in the city, including energy supply, buildings and urban development, industry, transportation, and private households. The program promotes renewable energy, public transport, reduced car dependency, and the expansion of green spaces, among other sustainability efforts.
In addition, BEK 2030 integrates strategies and measures to adapt to climate change. The program’s implementation progress and detailed information are accessible through the monitoring system, diBEK.
