As we’ve already mentioned, Berlin is a city full of artists and designers. Because of this, you’ll find many sustainable fashion brands and shops scattered throughout the city. One of the key aspects of sustainable fashion is choosing high-quality clothing or items made from recycled materials. These brands aim to reduce their impact on the planet by using environmentally friendly products and materials. Some local sustainable fashion brands to check out include Corvera Vargas, Slow Friday, Dear Goods, Avesu, Wesen, Dawn Denim, and many more, which you can also explore online.
Visiting Berlin and interested in discovering local eco-friendly shops and perhaps even talking to brand owners? We have a great suggestion: join a Green Fashion Tour, organized by COSH. These tours take place once a month, or you can arrange a private group tour upon request. The tours are conducted on foot and via public transport, allowing you to not only visit sustainable fashion shops but also explore and experience the city itself.
Berlin Fashion Week
This event is held twice annually – once in summer, in July, and again in winter, in January. It started in 2007 and has since become an annual tradition. Since 2011, the event has taken place in front of the Brandenburg Gate.
Each year, the importance of sustainability in fashion continues to grow. Berlin Fashion Week spreads awareness about sustainability, innovations in fashion, and new techniques. To emphasize this focus, the Senate Department for Economy, Energy, and Enterprises launched the initiative “Berlin Fashion Week for Future.”
“The Berlin Fashion Week will be all about sustainability, innovation, diversity and cross culture as well as supporting creative talents. The big highlight is the variety of formats ” – Senator Ramona Pop.
After all these years, this event has garnered huge interest, not only from Germany’s public but also from designers, critics, and people from around the world, especially since one of its biggest supporters is Mercedes-Benz. It has also become a platform for young designers to showcase their talent and have their moment to shine.
