If you want to use public transport in Leipzig you of course need to buy a ticket, there is different types of tickets, some of them is for single trip, others valid for one hour. Also there is daily, weekly, monthly tickets. For some it can look expensive, but monthly public transport ticket is 104.90 euros and single trip ticket cost around 2.30 euros. For students city offers discount with student card.
